WBJEE- West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations.

The basic purpose is to select candidates for consideration for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.

WBJEE Board conducts entrance examinations as -

(a) the JEM - (i) for admission of students to degree level courses in Medical Colleges, Dental Colleges, and Universities, West Bengal.

Selection: Selection for M.B.B.S. Course and B.D.S. Course will be based on the Merit List in the Joint Entrance Examination with regard to preferences for Medical or Dental Colleges and subject to passing the qualifying examination appropriately. Counselling will be undertaken for admission for the merit listed candidates at a fixed venue, date and time to be notified by the authority concerned in this regard. Selected candidates for both the M.B.B.S. and B.D.S. Courses will have to furnish bonds with an undertaking to serve the State Government anywhere in the State for a minimum period of 3 years after passing.

Pass in 10+2 or appearing in examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Botany and Zoology) with at least 50% marks in aggregate (Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together) for general category candidates and 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST candidates. For candidates seeking admission through JEE to Govt. and Private Colleges the candidate must be a permanent resident/native of Orissa.

The candidates must have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system with required subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognised school conducting regular classes and situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi . The candidates must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Female candidates belonging to Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST)/Children, Widows & Wives of Armed & Para Military Personnel (CWWAPP) category who have passed qualifying examination from Indian Boards/Universities or Foreign Boards/Universities may also apply for admission to Lady Hardinge Medical College . The condition of studying 11 th and 12 th class from a school situated with the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall not be applicable to these candidates.

The candidate must be born on or before 1st January 1992 to be eligible to appear for MHTCET. The Secondary School Certificate i.e. SSC or equivalent examination certificate/ the certificate of age and nationality or valid Passport endorsing the date of birth will constitute a valid proof.

The candidate must be medically fit and must submit a certificate of medical fitness at the time of Preference form filling as per proforma.

The candidate must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination from an Institution situated in the state of Maharashtra

The State of Maharastra is home to 155 engineering colleges with an annual intake of 48250 students (according to 2004 Statistics). Among all the engineering colleges VJTI, D J Sanghvi College of Engineering, Government Engineering College Pune are some of those institutions, which have established themselves as instances of perfect quality for studies and research among students, academicians, educationists and scientists.
About the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) Exam:

If you are interested to be a part of this Maharastra Technological Studies scenario, then it becomes mandatory on your part to appear for the MHT CET examination. One of the distinguishing features of the MHT CET exam is that, it does not carry any strict domicile requirement. Candidates from Maharastra and other states of India are welcome to appear for this examination. On this context one aspect needs special mention that the non Maharashtra candidates can apply for the admissions against the Institute level seats and the vacant seats after completion of Centralized Admission Process. Maharashtra government has come up with a set of established rules for admitting students in the vacant seats left with various colleges after the Central admission process is over.
Criteria for Maharastra State Candidates at MHT CET:

In order to appear for the MHT CET you should be an Indian National and should have passed the H. Sc (10+2 Std.) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. He should secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra state only) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together. AND for your selection you have to obtain non zero score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the MHT-CET examination.
To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal marks in MHT-CET, the Procedure, which is laid down in the "MHT-CET Application Form & Information Brochure"shall be followed.
Criteria for Maharastra State Candidates at (10+2) Standard:

If you are an Indian National and have passed the H. Sc (10+2 Std.) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra state only) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together, you are eligible to appear for the MHT CET examination.

If you are a Diploma holder and have passed the diploma course in Engineering/Technology with minimum of 50% marks, you are eligible to sit for this examination. Another factor also has to be kept in mind that the medium of instruction should be English from the Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or its equivalent /AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics, located in or outside the Maharashtra State.
To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal aggregate marks in Final year of the Diploma exam, following order of preference shall be adopted: Marks obtained in Mathematics at SSC, Grand total of Marks obtained at SSC.
Criteria for Outside Maharastra State candidates at MHT CET:
The appearing candidate has to be an Indian National and should have passed the H. Sc (10+2 Std.) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.

2. Which way is better MHTCET or AIEEE to get admission in any of the premier Colleges of Maharashtra

It all depends on your eligibility if you are from Maharashtra; it–s advisable to take the root of MHT-CET, if you are not in that case all the autonomous colleges except NIT Nagpur is beyond a NON Maharashtrian.
3. I am from ICSE, how much syllabus of MHT-CET is covered through ICSE

Don–t worry its equivalent of MHT-CET syllabus.
4. I have scored good marks in my boards, but could not appear any entrance is it advisable to get admission through MHTCET.

MHT-CET is an entrance examination if you have scored good marks in your board and you can certainly get admission in many of the colleges in which seats stay vacant after the counseling. But it–s not advisable, of course if you will find a college of your choice and branch of your choice.
